Sorry about the recent lack of posts, but I promise to get my act together!
Last weekend I took a short trip to Philadelphia and I absolutely loved it! I had never been there before but I know I’ll definitely go back cause its adorable!
We got there Friday afternoon and checked into our hotel on the Penn campus which is a great place to stay. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is open late on Fridays so we went there around 5:00. There was a jazz night with music, people in costume and dancers. It always pays to check into local events when traveling because you never know what might be happening when you happen to be there. The museum admission is also valid for two consecutive days so we were able to take our time in this giant museum.
Saturday we started at Independence Hall which is part of a large state park full of historical buildings in the hat of downtown. Admission is free for all of the buildings but you have to go to the visitor center to get a ticket anyways.
After that we walked around Society Hill which is so cute and old and covered in flower boxes.
Christ Church Cemetery (where Ben Franklin is buried).
Sansom St. in University City has a row of restaurants in old row houses and the White Dog Cafe has a great brunch menu.
After lunch we went back to the museum and tackled the third floor which has a fun mix of European, Middle Eastern and Asian art and architecture.
Sunday I walked around the Penn campus which is just gorgeous and has an eclectic mix of Federal, Georgian and Collegiate Gothic architecture among other styles.
I got to see a tons in such a short amount of time, but there was still a ton to see! Hopefully it wont be too long before I go back but you never know!
Has anyone been here before? and If so what are you’re must see places?
