Hi all sorry for being such a slacker about posting!
A few weeks ago I went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans and it was amazing! I had never been to New Orleans before and I absolutely love it. The architecture is amazing, there is so much to do and it is just a fun city in general. Being there during Mardi Gras made it that much more fun though. First of all I had no idea it was a family friendly event (mind blown)! There are about 4 parades every day which basically shuts down the whole city, and its fun for anyone of any age to go to. Also the parades are where most of the beads come from. If you do go to the French Quarter at night though its a whole other story. The Quarter is crazyness, exactly the mayhem you imagine. People on balconies throwing down beads (lots of people flashing but you can get beads anyways), and zillions of drunk people. What amazed me the most was that most of the drunk people were nice happy drunks. I took a million and one pictures and I tried to narrow them down but I;m still gonna post a ton so sorry. I am going to break up buy days though so it should be less overwhelming.
Here we are driving over Lake Pontchartrain
You can see the Business District of New Orleans in the distance.
The reason Katrina did so much damage is because half the city is actually below the level of Lake Pontchatrain.
