Seriously I want to take a moment to stand up for her and other people, like myself, who have naturally large boobies right now. This past weekend, Kate Upton told the sun that she, “wished for smaller boobs every day,” and all of a sudden guys are laughing at her and girls are screaming at her. And it needs to stop, everyone needs to just back off for a second.
For starters, we all know that there are things that we would change about our bodies if we could. We are all self conscious and most of the time it’s silly but there is pressure coming from all ends these days for both men and women to look a certain way and I think on average, most of us are finding that we naturally just don’t look that way. I personally wish that we could as a society appreciate all different kinds of beauties, and there are definitely some campaigns starting advocating this, but it’s still a work in progress. So if you are getting high and mighty on Ms. Upton for not necessarily liking something about how she looks then maybe just take a step back and think about that for a second and realize she’s really only human.
Second off, I want to pose some fresh perspective on you guys about having large boobs. A lot of you think she’s being whiny because most women want bigger breasts and as she is a model, her boobs are one of her big selling points. These two things are both true. However, if you go look at what she said, it makes a lot of sense. She wants smaller boobs because she likes going bra-less or wearing spaghetti straps or even tiny bikinis. She wishes that they could maybe just be like clip on boobs. As someone who has large boobs I want to let you know how much sense this makes. Fun facts about real boobs: they are heavy. Unlike fake boobs, when they are large they weigh a lot and because of this, take a lot of work to hold in place. Strapless bras really don’t go past a double d cup, which I can tell just from looking at Kate Upton that she has definitely surpassed that. Not only that, but most bikini’s don’t really go past that size either. Having big boobs is a lot of work. It’s a daily chore finding clothes to put them in, and if they are at all sticking out of your clothes people begin making assumptions about you. I’m not kidding. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve heard someone tell me “put those things away!” and left me thinking “WHERE do you suggest I put them?” I’ve actually been told to my face by men and women alike that when they see a girl with her boobs out at all they just assume she is a big slut. How is that fair?
Not only that, but I began developing at a pretty young age. I’ve worn a bra since I was about eleven and let me tell you, they really don’t make clothes for eleven year olds with boobs. So people noticed. Men noticed. Men thought I was older when I was really thirteen and began hitting on me (and even though you thought I was older, fellas, you must have had an inkling that I wasn’t much over 16 so still veeeery creepy). Not a single time did I ever walk to the mall with my friends and not get whistled at. And I grew up in Orange County, all things considered a pretty safe area. So when she says, “Oh man, it would be so much easier, especially if people didn’t constantly bring them up,” you have to think of things from her point of view because people always bring them up and probably have been since she was really young.
Lastly, I want to remind everyone about the last thing she said on the subject, “the grass is always greener, as they say!” So she realizes and very well knows that there are a ton of people who would switch boobs with her. She was actually being quite cool about it if you ask me. It doesn’t mean I don’t love my boobs and cherish their many magical powers, and the same goes for her. But for me it did take a lot of work to learn to love them and it takes a lot of work to get them to cooperate every day so I can tell you that daydreaming about smaller boobs is really not as big of a deal that everyone is deciding to make it out to be.
