A Day in the Metropolis

As you all may know, I’ve been super busy lately, so I decided to take a little trip out to the Metropolis for inspiration.

I just love the architecture here. There is something hauntingly beautiful about the way a big city moves… like clockwork.

Morgan, being the natural beauty that she is, went for a simple dress. She doesn’t need to wear anything flashy, she’s just as beautiful being a part of the city.

Julia has a love for big hats and sequins, let’s be real who doesn’t. This high-low dress makes her look as fabulous as the fountain she is posing with.

Now since I wanted to blow off some steam, I used my love for drama and man-hypnotizing powers in deciding what to wear. I went as flashy as possible.

Alright, by now you’ve noticed that this is not me or Morgan or Julia in the pictures. They are screenshots from Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. The costumes in this movie are really wonderful because they are a big piece in the movie itself. The attention to detail in the movie is important, every character is just a big cog in the city so each character’s costume often represents their role in the city. It’s no doubt that fashion designers, both then and now, noticed the attention to detail in the movie. It clearly still inspires fashion today, that’s why if you click on any of the pictures above it will take you to a piece of an outfit inspired by the costume that I found on my favorite online shopping websites. If you check them out I think you will find both some awesome outfits and some Metropolis inspired looks. If you’re a movie lover like me, hitting both of those points is a total score.
