Last week I went to the Tea with Diana: Legacy of A Princess at the Queen Mary. The RMS Queen Mary is a huge ocean liner that sailed from England to New York City starting in the 1940’s and is now permanently docked in Long Beach, CA. It now serves as a hotel, museum and restaurant and they currently have an exhibit about Princess Diana with is accompanied with a proper English tea.
The tea had a casual dress code but I felt that heels and pastels were fun and appropriate without being to over the top (which was my first instinct) ‘cause can you really go to tea like that and not dress up at least a little bit? The shirt is silk and could be paired with something dressier like a pencil skirt or a nice pair of slack but I purposely left it wrinkly so it would look more casual (also I’m lazy) and I think it creates a nice bridge between the very casual jean shorts and the over the top necklace. I really wanted to dress up in full vintage splendor and pretend I went back in time but unfortunately I just didn’t have a 40’s party dress on hand, don’t you hate when that happens?
Being the genius that I am, I forgot to charge my camera so I took the outfit photos at my house afterwards and the photos of the boat are from my iPhone.
